Chicago Area Waterways Heritage Awards
We are proud to announce the Chicago Area Waterways Heritage Association will present the first Captain Bill Pinkney Award to Captain Mark Stevenson on September 28, 2025. The award recognizes those who demonstrate exceptional seamanship and serve as inspiring role models within the maritime community. Honoring the Life of Mr. Ron Harris
With much gratitude and appreciation, the Captain William “Bill” Pinkney Foundation extends it condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Ron Harris. An avid boater and friend of Captain Bill Pinkney and Captain Paul Mixon, Mr. Harris participated in the Black Boaters Summit, Universal Sailing Club, Black Watermen Association and other boating organizations and activities. The Captain William “Bill” Pinkney Legacy Foundation appreciates the dedication and joy that Ron Harris shared with the sailing and boating community, and will be forever grateful for the help and friendship he shared with Captain Bill Pinkney and Captain Paul Mixon.
