A Great Equalizer - The Life and Legacy of Captain William "Bill" Pinkney

The first Black man of any nation to solo-circumnavigate the world via the five Capes and the first Captain of the re-created Amistad Freedom Schooner.

This event will capture his life and legacy and highlight the profound lessons taught to him by “The Sea”- the great equalizer.

Please come join us to witness and celebrate as East Monroe Street is Honorarily named "Capt. William Pinkney Way" !!!
The street sign unveiling will take place across the street from the Chicago Yacht Club, on the NE corner of Butler Field Park at 12:00 noon, Sunday, June 9th. See you there!
